I am a private tutor specialising in A-Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) Mathematics. I am specialised in teaching Physics and Mathematics from secondary to IGCSE/GCSE levels.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Bristol; I studied Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Meng), a very maths and physics oriented degree. Having gone through university and A-levels quite recently, I understand the pressure examinations put on students and the importance of comprehending the content of a subject.

Therefore, I primarily focus on ensuring that the student fully grasps the content taught. I emulate the time pressure that exams create to ensure students can calmly and accurately tackle exams without worrying about being unable to complete the examination.

I create a time pressure environment because most students understand the content but are unable to perform to their full potential under pressure. The desire to perform well creates anxiety/nervousness, which results in silly mistakes.

Therefore, controlling the nervousness is essential; hence, I actively try to ensure the student can cope with pressure. Lessons are tailored to the student’s specific needs; the aim is to focus on topics that the student is finding difficult.

Once the student is comfortable with most topics, the next step is to look at past examination questions so that the student can familiarise themselves with the type of questions and adequately apply the knowledge gained through sessions.

Allow me to thank Sue Schulkins for the wonderful work she has done with our son’s English classes. We have seen our son’s interest grow as the sessions have progressed. Before Sue started out with him - I noticed she gathered as much information as she could and she listened to us and even adopted some of our methods. She improved on them and added her own unique creativity. She was very unlike some teachers who would insist on using their own method - she never did that. She was able to find out from our son his expectations and discovered he loves unusually funny narratives. She incorporated this into her curriculum and we have seen such a marked improvement in his English comprehension. He is having fun during the English sessions and his work has improved. He is attentive and focused. Sue Schulkins is certainly a different kind of teacher and we are very happy with her work. Well done Sue.

My son worked with Katie Jackson for his GCSE Combined Science ( Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) and it made a real difference.
